Environmental Science Article Write-Up!

I read three articles about global warming and the different causes of it. The first article I read was about how global warming will affect rivers. This website states; “the impact of global warming will hit rivers and river communities first and worst.” They predict it will hit the rivers in a form of increased droughts, floods, and waterborne diseases. The second article I read was about the causes of global warming. The IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) first learned that there are several greenhouse gases that are contributing to the warming, and that most come from the combustion of fossil fuels in cars, electricity production, and factories. The gas that is most responsible for warming in Carbon Dioxide. Finally, the third article I read was about the “greenhouse effect” which is warming that result when the atmosphere traps heat radiating from Earth towards space.

            I personally felt like all of these articles were well written, but the first article I read definitely could have had more information. I felt like it was poorly written and I don’t know if I completely trust the information that was given to me, so that is the only one I felt was not very reliable. On the other-hand the last two articles I read were very interesting and had a good amount of information, I felt as if I could rely on those completely.

            I wouldn’t necessarily say that the articles were inaccurate, but going back to the first article I read, I would recommend that they authors of the articles, or website, add more factual information than opinion, I felt like that article was more opinionated rather than true facts.

            All three articles were very interesting. I learned what the greenhouse effect was, I mean I have heard of it before, but now I actually know what it is and how it impacts the Earth and the atmosphere. That was pretty interesting.

            After reading these articles I want to research more about global warming and try to find things that I could do to try to be more eco-friendly. Although I am just one person among many, my choice to do more eco-friendly things will make me feel better knowing that I am not contributing to global warming as much as the people around me.

PSA response

I thought that Daniel Wax's groups PSA was the best because it was sad and meaningful. The music like got your attention and the pictures and what was said was meaningful. it reminded me of the ASPCA commercials. Although i think it could have had less words. i think some people may not want to take the time to read all that stuff, nor do i think there would be enough time to do so.

I think these PSA's could potentionally make an impact on society. I think this because when people see the these things and take the time to actually realize what they are doing and how it impacts our environment so much, they will want to help take a step towards making a change and cleaning up the environment and 'going green'

The Human Foorprint

a.) My reaction to the video was it was rather interesting, but i feel like it wasnt very accurate, i dont feel like the 'average' person consumes that much of the things they explained.
b.) I was shocked when they said the average person drinks 168 pints of milk in a year, thats just gross, i hate milk. Second, when they said a cow produces 6 and 1/2 gallons of milk in one day, i feel like thats a rather large amount of milk for one cow. Finally, when they said the average person consumes 19.826 eggs in a lifetime, thats a lot of eggs.
c.) Honestly i dont really know what should be done about our human footprint because we cant just stop doing the things we do, we have to survive somehow. I mean i guess we could use more environmental friendly things but i feel like just a few people doing that out of the whole entire global world, wont really have much of an impact but its worth a try i guess.

my name is Chelsea Leigh Nighland. I am sixteen years old, i am graduating a year early due to the fact that i want to move out of Gahanna and i want to graduate with my best friend. I would like to pursue a career in either biology or environmental science, i am very undecided. I am also a competitive gymnast at Gahanna Cyclone Gymnastics (that's subject to change though, i may be switching to Gym Extreme in Worthington) and i am on dive team for our school. I live with just my mom and she is by far my best friend, after her comes Taylor Poches. I met Taylor in 3rd grade through gymnastics and we have been best friends ever since. I live through music, it is what gets me through an average school day. My favorite band is A Day to Remember, but i like all kinds of music except country, an dim not a 'big' rap fan but i do like some rap, its not all bad. I also love Green Day <3 Me and Taylor went and saw them when we were in 4th grade and then again when we were in 6th. to sum that up, music is a huge part of my life. I have 3 tattoos, i have one on my arm, one on my side, and one on my back. the one on my side i got when i turned 16 which is on December 9th, that one is a cancer ribbon and i got that because my grandpa who i was extremely close to died of lung cnacer when i was in 8th grade. The one on my back says "nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky" that one is also to represent my grandpa, its from the song Dust in the Wind by Kansas. Then finally the one on my arm says "i love you always and forever" that one is for my mom, its something we have always said. she was supposed to get that one with me but unfortunatley she chickened out :( okay well, that pretty much sums up me as a person.

okay well this is my second make up blog... ill tell you about my weekend i guess. so friday night joey came over and we didnt really do anything we just kind of sat there. then he left and i went to taco belll then he came back and we sat some more. exciting. but i like sitting with him, im content with that. i like that kidddo quite a lot. then saturday i got up at the butt crack of dawn and drove to cirlceville to watch him wrestle, he did really good, he went 5-0. wooo im a proud girlfriend. LAWLZ. then his mom took us to subway and it was really good, i was hungry, my liver didnt satisfy my hunger.................................................. after that we went to someone in his familys birthday party. then we went back to my house. then sunday i died. and i still feel dead. hmmm, #lackofsleep.

"Now i lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If i shall die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take" the prayer i recite, night by night. Then i slowly drift off into reality; the haunting nightmares of reality. When i sleep I die. I beg to wake up from this afterlife. My nightmares are a place where everything is what it seems. Nothing is imaginary, everything is real. There's no one to call and everything to fear. It only seems that I've been buried alive.

This place on Earth’s not, why do I belong here? This place is unreal and unlike anything you could imagine. The worst part is, it’s all real… Morte et Dabo, this place has a name I guess. The skies are grey, the grass is dead, the trees have no leaves; nothing but the living dead walk the cold streets of Morte et Dabo. “Drags you down below, down to the Devil’s shore, to be his guest forever. You have such an easy soul to steal.” A creature from behind the trees said. My response was absent; I just looked and then kept roaming around the cold streets. As I continue on my journey I’m strictly left with my thoughts and the silence. So as I go down the forest covered road, I feel like someone is trailing closely behind, and keep hearing distance crunching of dead grass beneath the feet of a creature, an unidentified creature. I have finally reached what I think is the road that leads me into town, but the road goes two ways, left or right, I make a left because DALE only makes left turns. Number 3 in the streets number 1 in our hearts. Dale was right as usual. So I head into town and I go to the local coffee shop and get a nice cup of creamer with coffee, never been a big fan of pure coffee. As I finish up my coffee, I begin to notice I’m the only person left in the shop, it is only a little past 9:30 pm and its pitch black outside. The lights begin to flicker and I see a dark figure standing in the door way. It raises its hand and unlocks the door with its long metal knife like finger nail, then slowly entering he heads my way with a pitch fork dragging behind him, he begins to life his head and shouts “like I said, you have such an easy soul to steal.” And forces the pitch fork through the young man’s chest, leaving nothing but a dead corpse and a pool of blood.

Hi this is nick brown. Everyone calls me by my full name for some reason but i don't care. I stole her laptop so im writting this for fun. Apparently she's suppose to write a blog like every week and thats stupid. This is dumb and a complete waste of time which is what she says all the time and i agree also josiah dembroski also agrees(hes my best friend). People this josiah and i are gay together but i disagree we're just very touchy lols jk. I'm comfortable with my sexuality, but josiah hates it when people call him gay cuz everyone assumes that; i like to give people reasons to call him gay even if it makes me look gay. MESSING WITH PEOPLE IS SO MUCH FUN!!!!! If there is a bunch empty urianls i would pick the one next to the other guy just so he stops in mid-stream cuz he's so unconfortable. I don't know what else to write so i'm bout to give her the laptop back. i'm glad i'm not in your class cuz this is dumb and you would kick me out of class daily cuz im what you call a "smart a**"

     So a really good movie is "The Shining." its amazing. ha. Stephen King is such a good writer. everything he has ever done is good and i look forward to reading and seeing all his movies. i reccommend him to anyone. Although his movie IT sorta creeps me out only becaus ei freaking hate clowns, they creep me out alot... but anyway, this weeekend was good, one because we gt sometime off and two I GOT MY JOB AT THE HAUNTED HOOCHIE FOR SURE(: lol. im excited and i cant wait till October! well Skins is on so peace out(:

okay, so this weeks topic is what is something you do thats a waste of time...
     My hobby i guess that i do thta i think is a waste of time is probably cleaning, but only because i excessively clean. i clean and vaccum my room twice a day everyday. its just unnecessary cleaning, i dont know why i do it really but i feel like my room is just not clean unless i clean and vaccum twice a day. its something that really bothers me. when i was younger i hardly ever cleaned, my room was always a mess and i would always get the typical "go clean your room" and now its the opposite, now im told i clean "too much". psh whateverrrr. theres no such thing as cleaning to much. i mean hey, id rather have a clean room than a dirty room, right?? so i guess most people probably would consider my excessive cleaning a 'waste of time.'

         hello everyone(: i hope everyone had a good weekend!!! mr potter, i dont understand how to put a comment on someones blog, it never lets me ]:< well i had an interesting weekend<3 hahaha. On Friday, i went and saw Room Mate with Taryn Moore, and like half our school was there as well. it was an interesting movie but the room mate girl was a physco-lunatic and im not kidding, i would of knocked her out so fast. In all serious though, idk if i even want a strange room mate.. im going to bring someone i know to college with me and thats final. hahaha. I also went to Water Beds n' Stuff and i got 30 new insense and i got drip candles. i also got a Greatful Dead keychain thats on my bookbag. lollllllllllllllllllllllll. well that was my Friday. on Saturday, i had gymnastics, it was nice but i got a nasty blister on my hand that started bleeding from bars and it was really grosss. ha. Its rough going back into the gym after my back fractures but im SOOO HAPPY im going back in. i finally feel myself again. im so much happier and idk life is just so much better. i lived for gymnastics and after my fracture it felt like there was a part of me missing, i never really knew what exactly that part was, but now that im back in the gym, i dont feel that "emptiness" anymore. so im concluding that is was gymnastics. but anyway after the gym i came home and i slept for like an hour then i went to the Basement downtown.. this is where the title of my blog comes in.. to watch like 7 different bands play. all the different bands did fairly well. i enjoyed myself quite alot(: but then i was standing near the door way talking to the door men that worked there, one was named Corey and the other one was named Daniel.. Daniel, was OMG SOOOO CUTE<3 haha.. not the point though.. when i was standing by the door these people were walking out so i moved but the girl that was walking out, bumped me with enough force to move me back, and im almost positive it was on purpose.. so i was all mad and ready to like punch her in th head... thats when Daniel and Corey just started talking to me and telling me like im above all that and just you know, being inspirational. it helped alot and it made me feel alot better. ha. most importantly it made me laugh and calmed me down.. which i needed at the moment. ha. but it was sweet(: now its Sunday and im at my moms friends house chilling with my mom her friend and her youunger kids and Taryn and we are just watching the superbowl.. well sorta.. im actually researching "the ridge" which is the Athens Asylum.. it fascinates me. haha. well peace(:

okay so i chose to do the "topic blog."

The cartoons that are on now dont even compare to the cartoons that were on when i was like 5 or 6. i miss Hey Arnold, Cat Dog, Chalk Zone, Flintstones, Berenstine Bears, The Rugrats, Reccess, Doug, Rocko's Modern Life, Pinky and The Brain, Ren and Stimpy, Cow and Chicken, and Jonny Bravo. those were some solid shows. i dont know why they would cancel them.. that has mistake written all over it. haha. when i was little i used to look forward to getting up every morning just so i could watch those shows. now its like uhhhhh i gotta get up to some boring non-animated show ): hahaha. its sorta depressing. those cartoons made people laugh and they were like interesting i guess haha. occasionally cow and chicken, jonny brao, the rugrats and chalk zone still come on.. but only in the middle of the night when everyone is sleeping ]: haha. i really do think they need to bring back the good ole cartoons of the 90's. dont get me wrong spongebob, family guy, courage the cowardly dog, and king of the hill are good too(: we just need them alll back haha. they made me laugh(:

        i hope everyone had a really good break(: its sunday today and tomorrow we have to go back to school ehich sucks but hey, each day is a day closer to summer! I had a pretty good break over all, i got all i wanted for Christmas, and more(: Today my mom took me and Luke Hatfield to Water Beds & Stuff and i got fur new posters; 2 Bob Marley ones, one of the cat from Alice and Wonderland, and one of Jimi Hendrix. I also got a new incense burner, a Jimi Hendrix lava lamp, and finally i got this turtle thing that projects stars and consilations on my ceiling, its reallly coool! ha. My favorite incense smells are Champa Flower, Nirvana, and Patrouli. They smell really gooood(: i recommend them to you if you've nver bought them before(: Now i am sitting in my decked room listening to Sublime with Luke(: haha. Welll, im about to go, my momma just ordered a pizza<3 so have a good night!!
